The news was in the air from days, maybe weeks: Lord Sebastian Newbold Coe, president of the Local Organizing Committee of London 2012 Olympics and legendary ex runner, is officially the new IAAF President.
The 50th IAAF’s Congress that held today in Beijing, where, in a few days, will start the World Championship, declared Coe as the winner, as many where expecting. This is the new president, a british that take the seat of Lamine Diack who stayed in the head of the Federation for 16 years.
Baron Coe of Ranmore beat his opponent Sergey Bubka 115 votes to 92: a sharp victory giving him the lead of the IAAF and, together with the honor, a big number of troubles to solve, most of all the doping-problem, under the spotlight of the media all over the world.
We wish Sebastian Coe to be able to bring on in the best of ways this new, important and sore role, hoping world athletics can improve thanks to his knowledge and decisions.
