Incoming news for the next indoor season!
Finally, IAAF decided to give more relevance to indoor athletics organising an international competition, the IAAF World Indoor Tour, like for the outdoor competitions.
The four relevant meetings will be, for 2016 season, the Karlsruhe indoor meeting (6th February), the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston (14th February), the Globen Galan in Stockholm (17th February) and the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix (20th February). All the competitions are already well-known and established in the winter season and they will all take place in a time span of two weeks.
Twelve indoor events: 60m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000/5000m, 60hs, high, pole vault, long, triple jump and weight. The classic points system will be used to rank the athletes using the following point distribution for the first four classified: 10 points to the 1st, 7pts to the 2nd, 5pts to the 3rd and 3pts to the 4th. Rewarding prizes will be awarded: starting from 3.000$ to the 1st classified, 1.500$ to the 2nd, 1.000$ to the 3rd, 750$ to the 4th, 500$ to the 5th and 300$ to the 6th.
The absolute winner will be the one who will score more points summing the best three results achieved in the Indoor Tour. He will win 20.000$ and a wild card that means the direct qualification for the 2016 Indoor World Championships in Portland.
