It is official, Anna Chicherova lost her Olympic bronze medal awarded in Beijing 2008.
CIO confirmed it yesterday in a public announcement; the athlete tested positve to an anabolic steroid, the Turinabol, during the retest carried out on the samples of the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 e in London 2012.
The athlete was warned about the positivity of her sample A and she has always stated she has never assumed doping substances. After the analysis of the samples B1 and B2, the positivity was confirmed.
Chicherova’s medal will pass to the Russian Elena Slesarenko who had stopped at 2.01m during the competition.
The analyses carried out on the samples from the Olympics have been realised with advanced analysis methods so as to find out if the athletes had used doping substances that could not be found with the methods used those years.
